I’m Kathleen Dutta.
Having worked in all aspects of education for over 10 years, I know how easy it is to feel disheartened when working on systems-change in education. The frustrations and lack of progress can easily lead to inertia. But there’s too much at stake for our students to let that happen. Even when we’re not in the classroom, we must continue to do our work with the same level of urgency a teacher feels on a daily basis, tasked with making sure all students get what they need to thrive.
As a consultant, it’s my goal to ensure the policies, grantmaking strategies, research, strategic plans, etc. that we co-create are built - from the beginning - to meet the needs of students furthest from opportunity. Too often, we lose sight of our why and forget to center students in systems-level conversations. I created KCD Consulting to ensure all students - and specifically students who continue to be overlooked and underserved - remain the focal point of your work.

Together, students with disabilities and multilingual learners make up a quarter of the K12 population in the U.S., yet these students are often an afterthought. By designing for students with disabilities and multilingual learners, we will create inclusive policies, strategies, and solutions that ultimately benefit all students.
